Confession: this is my 11th year in London (11!) but for most of that time, I’ve not allowed myself to think of it as ‘home’. . Something about the impermanence of visas, keeping a weather eye on the horizon, a feeling of love and duty to my family back home - there have been a lot of reasons (good or bad) why I’ve never really allowed myself to settle. . I read a really great book last year which talked about the importance of calling wherever you are “home”. It really struck a chord with me, and made me think that perhaps part of my desire to always be on the move was that I really hadn’t put down any roots... . So this is a long and rambling way of saying that little by little, I’m trying. I got some new plants today. It always felt like a waste of time, even though I love them, because I always kill them (🙄). I’ve been trying to make the space I inhabit a nicer and more permanent one. It’s kind of nice. And it doesn’t mean I’m any less ‘me’. I’m just a me who has her feet a little more firmly on the ground...Confession: this is my 11th year in London (11!) but for most of that time, I’ve not allowed myself to think of it as ‘home’.
